Website hosting:

Department
They don't have zero advertising but they do
have zero banner ads. You should only get a
pop-under when you leave this site.
Domain registration:
GoDaddy
My mom recommended it to me. I had my domain
name redirecting to my site in about 36 hours.
Image hosting:
Photobucket
Completely free, it survives on donations.
I use this for images sent to me. The only
catch is that individual files can't be over
250k without begin resized. Not complaining,
especially since you get 100Megs space.

Technologies Used
HTML 4.01 Strict
All of my pages, except the two with sitemeters,
are HTML 4.01 strict. This includes my custom
error pages. According to the World
Wide Web Consortium: "HTML
4 supports more multimedia options, scripting
languages, style sheets, better printing facilities,
and documents that are more accessible to users
with disabilities. HTML 4 also takes great
strides towards the internationalization of
documents, with the goal of making the Web
truly World Wide."
Cascading Style Sheets
I use Cascading Style Sheets, or CSS, on every
page of my site. It allows webmasters to change
the look of elements throughout their website
in one place and ensure the appearance of elements
stays consistant. It is also the only way to
make webpages HTML 4.01 Strict; most HTML code
that determines the appearance of elements
doesn't exist in that version.
Layers
I use layers in the template for this site.
The layers are the menus that appear when you
mouse over the pictures to the left. I don't
know much about how different browsers see
layers. More here when I have time to look
it up.
Javascript
I am not exactly sure what version of Javascript
Dreamweaver put in my code. My best guess is
version 1.3. I do know that browsers Explorer
4.0x & up and Netscape 4.0x & up can
do the events I used.
