"Cheering Charms for you and your friends!"

Cheering Charms is a Harry Potter humor website. My goal is for Cheering Charms to be the site to go to for Harry Potter jokes and other funny material, for it to be fun for all Harry Potter fans, and to be a respected site in the community of Harry Potter fansites.

My name is Benaiah Morgan. I first thought of creating a joke site with material exclusively from the HP universe in early July of 2004. "Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban" was out in theaters (still is at the time I'm writing this) and a couple of movie parodies were up on the Internet.

After reading two particularly good ones I went in search of more movies parodies. I found this to be harder than I thought. Most sites have very little in the way of funny Harry Potter stuff. If it is a Harry Potter fansite it deals primarily in fanfiction, fanart or news so it has few jokes. Humor sites have lots of jokes but not many are of HP.

So I thought, " 'Wouldn't it be cool if'™ there was one place to go to find Harry Potter jokes?" The idea stayed in my head so I decided to act on it.

At first I wanted to call it 'Rictusempra', which is the ticking charm Harry uses on Draco in "Chamber of Secrets". Unfortunately, that domain was already taken. I already knew Riddikulus was gone as well.

I decided on "Cheering Charms" which I think works better than the name of a spell anyway. My mom, such a nice lady, gave me the money to buy the domain. A visit to 'Go Daddy' and an account with 'Freesites' later and "Cheering Charms" was up on the Internet Tuesday July 13, 2004.
